Introducing: Gloriana
Okay, so this is not completely related to Taylor, but Gloriana is one of Taylor’s supporting act (and the only four agreed to vote for her), so… yeah. Anyway, I’m going to cover another Taylor’s supporting act, Kellie Pickler next week if that’s okay with everyone. (;
“Gloriana? Who?,” was my first response when I found out that Taylor will have 2 supporting acts on her tour, Kellie Pickler and Gloriana.
This leads me to google the name which turns out to be a new country band.
Gloriana, one of the latest hottest country band, is a group consisting of brothers Tom Gossin and Mike Gossin (vocals, guitar), Rachel Reinert (vocals) and Cheyenne Kimball (vocals, mandolin).
This band was originally founded by the Gossin brothers on 2007 and later joined by Rachel. The trio met Cheyenne Kimball who is a mandolin player/vocalist and felt that Cheyenne will be a great addition to the band.
They were signed to Emblem Music in late 2008, and soon after, their first single Wild at Heart was released. Wild at heart, written by Matt Serletic, Josh Kear, and Stephanie Bentley, is a mid-tempo country song that has pop-rock-ish sound. The catchy tune captures the hearts of many country and non-country music lovers. However, they see the fans as their biggest critics and help them making their debut album, which will be released this summer.
Undoubtedly, supporting Taylor Swift on arena concerts gives these four-talented-artists a chance to perform for larger crowd and get their music recognized.
Taylor herself admitted that she is a fan of Gloriana’s music. In one of her blog she wrote:
“Also, there’s this new group called Gloriana that’s coming out with us. They’re AMAZING and I love their new single “Wild at Heart”. I heard it and immediately knew I wanted them on this tour. Check them out, I think you’ll agree. Everyone in Nashville is buzzing about them and now I get to have them out with ME this summer. Yessssss.”
The band recently nominated for 2 CMT awards: Group Video of the Year for “Wild at Heart” (directed by Elliott Lester) and USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year for “Wild at Heart”.
